Devlog 1 - BoltRider 0.3.3 is out!



Update 0.3.3:

I was hoping to release an itch.io browser-playable version today with this update, but unfortunately, I cannot seem to get it working yet. In the following weeks, I will be working on five new levels and testing some physics changes.

Also, I will be participating in the Finish Your Project Jam 2024 to reach my goal of finishing 25 levels.

Changes & Improvements:

  • Added controller support for navigating menus and gameplay. Login/Register still requires keyboard input.
  • Faster navigation in the start menu. Switching menus no longer reloads every time.
  • Low battery alert: Added sound effects and flashing animation for the battery bar when the battery is below 20%.
  • Added a 5-second restart timer display when the battery is at 0%.
  • Levels are now slightly brighter.
  • Objects toggle feedback: Interactable objects now flash red if they can't be toggled. For example, when the player is in a tunnel and presses the "space" button, the tunnel flashes red to show the player that it can't be activated when the player is in or on an object.


  • Level completed leaderboard: If a player's personal best is in the global top 5, it's no longer shown below. It's only visible when the player is not in the global top 5.
  • "New Best time!" text in Level Completed: When a player achieves a new personal best time but no new medals, the "New Best time!" text will be shown.
  • The game file now has an icon.

Bug Fixes:

  • When achieving a new medal, it's now updated in the UI.

Known Bugs:

  • Game freezing at the start of the level countdown. It may be fixed now, but if it happens, please let me know.
  • Double leaderboard in the Level Complete screen.
