Devlog 8 - New GAMEMODE

This update introduces a completely new gamemode: Endless. With this mode, I’ve added roguelike mechanics to 10 Year City: you can now upgrade buildings, and each level expands the randomly generated map.

I’ve also completely reworked how city stats like Happiness, Education, Security, and Goods are handled. I hope this brings more interesting gameplay.

And of course, there’s a new building: the Ambulance, which merges with the Hospital. Some buildings also have updated art!

Update 0.9 New Features:

  • Endless game mode 
    • Choose one building to upgrade at the end of each map
    • Choose new upgrade for selected building
    • Selected building is now permanently upgraded for this run
    • Each new level expands randomly generated map by 4 tiles
    • Target population increases with each level
  • New stat system
    • Buildings now give stat per turn
    • Stats are cumulative.
    • Each stat total increases per turn, depending how much given stat per turn you have.
    • Example: City produces 3 Happiness per turn. Next turn city has 3 Happiness, 6 after that etc
  • Custom map Grants option

New Buildings and art:

  • New buildings: Ambulance (Civic. +2 Security)
  • New art: Monument, Police station, Hospital, Central Hospital, 

Minor changes/fixes:

  • Merge line visual improvements
  • New building animation
  • New building SFX
